Alfredo Lounge, Louth

Eddisons has played its part in the revival of a Listed landmark in the Lincolnshire market town of Louth, which has been given a new lease of life as a food & leisure destination in the town by its new occupiers.

Loungers plc, the café/bar group, has recently opened its Alfredo Lounge in Louth in the former Eve & Ranshaw department store at 1 Market Place in the town centre following the conclusion of a deal in which Eddisons’ Lincoln team – formerly Banks Long & Co – acted as letting agent on behalf of the landlord, as well as development consultant for the refurbishment project.

The Alfredo Lounge in Louth is one of 35 new openings that Loungers plc is planning in the financial year, with the leisure group operator identifying Louth as a target location suited to its Lounge brand due to the strong immediate catchment area and existing retail offer.

The group had considered a number of property options in the town but secured the 1 Market Place premises through Eddisons when it became available after the closure of the Eve & Ranshaw department store in February 2023.

According to Eddisons and Loungers plc, historic features of the property which dates from the late 18th Century – such as the original staircase, fireplaces and cornicing & skirting details – have been retained as key features in the re-purposing of the building for its new modern dining and socialising use.

Speaking at the launch of the Alfredo Lounge in Louth, Gemma Irwin, Community Manager at Loungers, said, “As a brand, our Lounges strive to put community at the heart of hospitality and we aim to be a neighbourhood café/bar combining elements of coffee shop culture, the British pub and a good dining experience.

“Our sites are characterised by informal, unique interiors with an emphasis on a warm, comfortable atmosphere. Our new Louth location and premises perfectly complement the Lounge brand spirit.”

Tim Bradford, Director, Eddisons, added, “It’s a real testament to the drive and commitment of all parties involved that the deal and refurbishment project have come together so swiftly to ensure the continued commercial use of this fine, landmark Louth building which first opened its doors for trading in 1781.
