Situation / Context:
Issues around safeguarding with the location of the existing reception area. Visitors had to walk through the site before signing in.
Customer’s needs:
New main entrance and reception area at the front of the building
Eddisons’ approach:
Refurbish and alterations to include converting a classroom into the new reception area with visitor waiting area, equality act compliant WC, new reception desk, automatic doors, equality act compliant ramp and steps, CCTV and new entrance canopy.
Potential Obstacles:
Asbestos removal, structural alterations to enlarge opening to install larger entrance doors, budget restraints, covid-19 government guidance with construction projects, planning application for entrance canopy, working in an occupied school – noise, H&S.
Result:
All works completed to a high standard, on budget and to programme.
Value Added:
Greatly improved pupil safeguarding, larger and better working environment for reception staff.
