Challenge
A community hub as well as a thriving school, Whitworth Park Academy required a team to deliver a new suite of sports facilities to cater to both students and residents alike.
Specialist contractors were required for technical installation of certain assets like the multi-use games pitch, but the Academy appointed Eddisons to refurbish the existing building to provide:
- A dedicated fitness room
- A physiotherapy room
- Changing facilities (general, officials, and accessible rooms)
- WCs for all provisions
Solution
The project was decided upon after a condition survey in 2021 identified improving a dilapidated gym block as a D1/urgent priority.
The original surveying contract was extended to fulfil the additional works recommended by Eddisons, which were designed and strategized in a collaboration with Whitworth Park Academy.
To ensure the project was delivered on time and within budget, Eddisons organised a series of meetings with the Academy’s external stakeholders, including contractors and third-party management teams, to meet expectations of all involved.
Results
Involving the MUGA contractors in the planning stages meant that Eddisons could work alongside the other teams, maximising efficiency across the project. Thankfully, the works were delivered on time, and within budget, and well received by all – especially the local community.
