Project
This project comprised a new-build clad-rack cold store facility in Bristol. BTG Eddisons was appointed as quantity surveyor. The site carried significant abnormal conditions, including made and contaminated ground, UXO risk, redundant services, and the need for a box culvert to provide access.
Approach
BTG Eddisons undertook upfront cost plans to inform the client of the cost of the works, including the abnormal site conditions. The team set out the cost implications of the contaminated ground, the UXO risk, the redundant services, and the box culvert construction. This gave the client a clear picture of the full cost before commitment.
Results
The client entered the project understanding both the building cost and the site abnormals that would drive it. Early, detailed cost planning removed surprises on a technically challenging industrial scheme.
