About Matthew
Matthew is the Director of cost consultancy and quantity surveying, based in our Leeds office. He is an MRICS-accredited quantity surveyor, employer's agent, and project manager with more than 15 years' experience gained at nationally recognised quantity surveying firms. He advises clients across the commercial, residential, and retail sectors, taking sole responsibility for projects from pre-contract through to completion.
Matthew has a proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams, managing budgets, and delivering programmes on time. Here are some of his highlights:
- He acted as lead employer's agent and quantity surveyor on the pre-contract stages of Lisbon Square and Whitehall Riverside in Leeds, two major mixed-use developments spanning offices, residential apartments, student accommodation, a hotel, and associated public realm.
- He led the £35m office and common-area refurbishment at Bridgewater Place, Leeds, and provided upfront cost planning for a new-build cold store in Bristol, advising on abnormal site conditions including contaminated ground, UXO risk, and the construction of a box culvert.
- His retail experience includes an Iceland and The Range shell unit, where he coordinated the legal pack and negotiated the agreement for lease.
Prior to joining BTG Eddisons in 2026, Matthew was an associate director at another firm in Leeds. He previously spent more than a decade at Howell Goodfellow, progressing from quantity surveyor to director, having begun his career at Rex Procter & Partners.
