High street premises in a South Cambridgeshire village which were once a Ducati motorbike showroom and repair garage will be the location for a new café branch and the main bakehouse for much-loved Cambridge bakery brand Fitzbillies in a deal in which our Agency team led the negotiations on the lease of the premises on behalf of the landlord.
Fitzbillies - most famous for its original fruity, sticky Chelsea bun of the same name - is opening its newest café and relocating its current city centre bakehouse operation to 59-61 High Street, Harston in converting the former superbike brand’s showroom and workshop for retail, back office and bakery use within the 4,100 sq ft premises.
Set back off the High Street with over 35 parking spaces fronting the road, it’s an ideal spot for Fitzbillies’ plans according to Ben Green who led agency negotiations following the relocation at the beginning of this year of Ducati’s Cambridge operation to a purpose-built business park near St Ives.
He said, “This is a particularly pleasing off-market letting as it gives our client a long term tenant in the highly regarded Fitzbillies.
“Harston High Street is on the A10 and is a popular commuter route to major Cambridge employment areas such as Addenbrooke’s Hospital and the Biomedical Campus, among others.
“Harston is also a bustling, independent village with many amenities and the addition of Fitzbillies to its high street hub should give a real boost to the retail and hospitality profile of the village.”
Fitzbillies was represented by Carter Jonas in leasing the new premises.
