Eddisons’ Leicester agency have launched a consented mixed-use development opportunity on the former Molson Coors Brewery on Station Street in the heart of Burton upon Trent, with additional frontage on Cross Street and Duke Street too.
The very beginning of this year has seen Eddisons’ East Midlands agency launch a consented mixed-use development opportunity in the centre of Burton-on-Trent.
The former Molson Coors Brewery stands on a prominent and accessible 5.23 acre site on Station Street in the heart of the Staffordshire town, with additional frontage on Cross Street and Duke Street too.
With price on application, we - as the sole agent - are marketing the freehold of the site with planning consent for 284 apartments, a 154-key aparthotel, retail & leisure, and office use.
There is an array of built structures central to the spine of the site. Some are - or could be, the agent suggests - integral features to the redeveloped site, including two, mid-19th Century, Grade II Listed red brick buildings with consent for conversion for retail, food & beverage leisure use and, on the upper floors, residential use.
The former fermenting towers, of up to 15 metres in height, add an additional built feature to the site.
Under half a mile from Burton’s town centre, the former brewery site is adjacent to a Sainsbury’s supermarket, set in an established, prime retail & leisure district where other occupiers include Marks & Spencer, Next, The Gym Group and Boots.
Within a five minute walk are other central destinations, including the town’s railway station, Cooper Square and the Octagon Shopping Centre. South Derbyshire College is half a mile to the south east of the site.
Road transport links see A38 junctions connecting the A5121 North and South within approximately three miles of the site and onward access to Derby and Birmingham. Burton-on-Trent has direct links to Leicester via the M1 and Nottingham via the A52.
Leicester's Aman Verma is leading the agency in the freehold sale of the former Molson Coors site.
Commenting on its launch earlier this month, he said, “Undoubtedly, the East Midlands hosts a number of former industrial sites set for redevelopment.
“However, to have one that is not only such a landmark in the town centre, but also with a range of consented uses in place gives it an added profile to serious property investment & development interests who are looking for an ‘oven-ready’ opportunity with the advantage of heritage appeal.”
Viewing of the site is strictly by appointment only through Eddisons as the sole agent.
