BTG Eddisons' Associate Director, Jason Ghayour, was joined by Facilities Manager Jamie Day at PropTech Connect Europe 2026 in London last week, where they learned about new technological developments in the industry and spoke with clients and suppliers, reinforcing the value of the contractor and industry relationships across the sector.
The day also included a full seminar schedule and hands-on demonstrations of new hardware, including the latest UniFi security camera and sensor range.
Compliance and the golden thread
One of the day's keynote panels, "The Golden Thread: Delivering Compliance, Safety and Accountability at Scale," illustrated how buildings can meet compliance and safety requirements as portfolios grow.
The golden thread remains an important feature of the Building Safety Act, and the panel focused on how that requirement is tracked and evidenced at scale, rather than at the level of a single asset.
Smart buildings and the occupier experience
A second session, "Smart Buildings: Creating a Seamless User Experience with Technology," covered how smart-building technology is changing what occupiers expect from a space. Panellists discussed the practical end of this, rather than the concept: sensors, controls and data feeding into occupier property management and how a building actually feels to work in day to day.
What this means for commercial property management
Jason and Jamie's main takeaway was around the further use of AI in the built environment to improve efficiency and client deliverables within BTG Eddisons' commercial property management department.
Some specific ideas came out of the day's meetings and sessions, and with Jamie's support, Jason plans to bring these to the fore over the coming weeks and months.
