Project
Carruther’s Court is a residential development located on West Parade in Lincoln, completed in 2021. Designed by Stem Architects, the scheme offers modern rental flats with a focus on contemporary luxury.
The client appointed Eddisons’ Quantity Surveying team to support the project from a cost management perspective, ensuring that the client’s long-term value and maintenance requirements aligned with the original investment.
Approach
From the outset, the project was driven by a need for cost efficiency without compromising on design quality. Our team worked closely with the client to establish a shared set of objectives that would balance high-end finishes with lifecycle practicality. Careful attention was paid to the specification, ensuring that materials and systems offered long-term value while staying within budget.
Sustainability and futureproofing were key themes throughout the build. At the developer’s request, the flats were equipped with photovoltaic (PV) panels and electric vehicle (EV) charging points. Infrastructure for future battery storage was also integrated into the design, adding flexibility for future energy upgrades. These additions were incorporated within the original cost plan, with no impact on delivery or design quality.
Results
Carruther’s Court was completed in May 2021 and now stands as a high-spec rental offering that meets both aesthetic and environmental expectations. The client achieved their goal of creating a modern, desirable living space without overspending, thanks to proactive cost planning and value engineering throughout the project.
The property’s sustainability features have positioned it well for the future, reducing running costs for residents while contributing to long-term asset value. Eddisons’ involvement ensured that the build remained efficient, forward-thinking, and true to its original vision.
