BTG Eddisons is acting as joint property agent for Northamptonshire County Council in the sale of two former care home premises and sites in the county in Kettering and Desborough as part of the local authority’s planned property disposals programme.
In Kettering, 21,399 sq ft of buildings on a 1.92 acre, secure, gated site on Saunders Close - formerly the Henley Centre care home - is for sale for £750,000 as a redevelopment opportunity with the scope for a range of uses, subject to planning approval.
The former Beech Close Residential Care Home in Desborough, sees 17,991 sq ft of premises for sale for in excess of £1 million, with vacant possession on completion of the sale. As a 45-bedroom facility across six wings with ancillary community accommodation, BTG Eddisons - as joint agent with Fisher German - suggests that its current C2 designated use, which also includes for residential education or training purposes among others, might appeal to operators in these sector as well as those already in care provision.
Both former care homes are set within established residential neighbourhoods with good access to local, town centre amenities and facilities in their respective Northamptonshire locations. These aspects, according to Amanda Lawrence of BTG Eddisons, are expected to attract good interest from a variety of potential purchasers in each site - particularly owner-occupiers for the Desborough premises and developers for the Kettering site.
