Yarborough Academy Roof Refurbishment

Challenge

Yarborough Academy in Grimsby had suffered substantial waterleaking in throughout the entire building due to the existing roof covering. We were instructed to assess the damage, assist the school with their application for funding to the Education & Skills Funding Agency and then rectify the damaged roof – managing all works and contractors.

Solution

An Eddisons Chartered surveyor met the client to fully understand their requirements and gather a detailed brief. We co-ordinated relevant surveys to determine an accurate assessment of the roof areas in order to produce a robust CIF bid, ensuring compliance with Planning, Building Regulations and Health and Safety (CDM). We achieved thorough project planning with the production of detailed cost plans, construction programmes and risk analysis.

We managed the procurement process and appointment of main contractor, monitored progress, workmanship and project costs ensuring the relevant information exchange at completion of the project and reported to the ESFA with necessary monitoring forms.

Results

The CIF application was successful and the academy awarded nearly £500,000 to complete Phase 1 with a further £400,000 awarded to complete Phase 2.

Our surveyor acted as Contract Administrator working closely with the school and contractors to ensure successful delivery.

We delivered with no impact on time constraints or budget.

“Clients trust Eddisons because we understand the challenges faced – from restricted project timescales to the importance of minimising disruptions during term time and exams.”
