Whittlesey weighs in with industrial lettings

Eddisons is reporting strong demand for industrial and warehouse accommodation in Whittlesey, east of Peterborough, with confirmation of a number of recent lettings to new occupiers on the Cambridgeshire town’s Aaron Road Industrial Estate.

Trucking company JMS Transport is relocating from Peterborough to a unit on the industrial estate from where it will consolidate to create one single operation in Whittlesey.

A local logistics company has secured Unit 28-30 in needing to acquire space with a sizeable goods yard.

Meanwhile, Whale Tankers, a leading manufacturer of liquid waste tankers and jetting equipment, has chosen to establish its new regional depot at Aaron Road Industrial Estate in taking 3,830 sq ft.

In explaining the reasons for choosing its regional depot, Chris Anderson, Financial Director of Whale Tankers - which is headquartered in the West Midlands - said, “In having Anglian Water as a client, we were looking for a site in the centre of its region from where we could service requirements locally for work we couldn’t complete on its sites. We required a depot level site with good HGV vehicle access and yard space for HGV manoeuvring. We also needed a workshop with substantial door opening access.

“The lease terms available on the Aaron Road premises give us a degree of flexibility with scope to move to a larger unit on the estate if business increases beyond our planned growth. Also, the lease allows us to adapt the workshop to suit our requirements.”

Eddisons’ Simon Parsons, who leads the firm’s agency at Aaron Road Industrial Estate, feels the flurry of recent lettings demonstrates the affordability and accessibility of Whittlesey to both indigenous and ‘out of area’ industrial occupiers.

He said, “Whittlesey’s proximity to Peterborough, on the A605, is helping to profile the town to operators who, as well as having business interests connected to the city and the town’s surrounding Fenland District, may have a client base in Lincolnshire, to the north, or further east towards Norfolk.”
