Bloor Homes approached Eddisons to prepare Transport Assessment and Travel Plan reports in support of a planning application for up to 220 new homes on Froghall Road in Cheadle, Staffordshire. Our role was to demonstrate that the development could be delivered without causing unacceptable impacts on the local highway network and to outline measures that would encourage sustainable travel choices for future residents.
Approach
Our Transport Planning and Design team undertook a comprehensive assessment of the site and its surrounding transport infrastructure. This included analysing existing traffic conditions, identifying potential impacts arising from the proposed development and recommending a package of highway safety and active travel improvements.
We engaged with highways officers at Staffordshire County Council throughout the process, working collaboratively to address their technical queries and secure agreement to the proposed mitigation measures. When the application was called to public inquiry, Eddisons acted as expert witness, presenting evidence to support the scheme.
Results
Planning consent was granted at a public inquiry in March 2024. The approval included agreement to the proposed highway safety and active travel improvements, ensuring the development would integrate safely and sustainably into the local area. Bloor Homes was pleased with the outcome and the support provided throughout the planning process.
