Property consultant Eddisons has recruited two new building surveyors to boost the building and project consultancy division at its Newcastle office.
Richard Steedman joins the firm from national building consultancy AA Projects, bringing design and project management experience, particularly in the education sector. He has worked in contract administration roles on a number of improvement projects for academy trusts across the North East, including at New Seaham Academy primary school in County Durham.
Richard is joined by Jonathan Reeder Scott who will work with Eddisons for 18 months as an assistant building surveyor before returning to Northumbria University to undertake the final year of his degree in building surveying. A mature student, Jonathan had eight years’ specialist experience in the asbestos industry before retraining.
Both Richard and Jonathan will work alongside associate director and chartered building surveyor Adam Finch, who launched the firm’s Newcastle office in January last year, and colleague Mike McGoldrick – who joined the team in July 2017.
Eddisons has seen a surge in demand for its building surveying services, following the successful appointment on a number of property frameworks along with increased demand from academy schools and further education colleges that have secured funding for buildings and facilities improvements via the government’s Education and Skills Funding Agency.
In the latest round of Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) bids, Eddisons secured almost £15m of capital funding for schools in the North East and across the UK, to improve facilities including dining rooms, playgrounds, changing facilities and sports pitches.

Eddisons is a multi-disciplinary firm of chartered surveyors that was established in 1844 and operates across the UK.
Adam is a chartered building surveyor with over 8 years experience working within the building surveying and project management fields. A member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors since 2013, Adam is now Associate Director at Eddisons Newcastle office where he oversees the ongoing expansion of the local building and project consultancy team.
Adam has built up a broad range of experience in building consultancy and has established an excellent reputation for his expertise in the design and project management of refurbishments and new build projects. These projects range from simple external works of £50k upwards to more complicated new builds of up to £6m. Refurbishment projects for the NHS, Local Authorities and private property investors across the UK have been successfully delivered by Adam and his team. Adam has also undertaken the role of an Independent Tester for the NHS totalling £85m.
With extensive experience securing capital funding for the education sector Adam maintains a high success rate in his funding applications.
Other fields of expertise include dilapidations, party wall matters, schedule of conditions and pre acquisition surveys.
Adams interests include playing football, cycling, physical challenges and during the summer months, spends a large amount of time looking for golf balls which have gone astray!
