Staynor Hall Primary Academy Classroom And Nursery Extension

CHALLENGE

We were appointed by Ebor Multi Academy Trust to design and manage the new build expansion project to provide a further 96 pupil spaces and boost pre-school nursery intake from 30 to 60 children. The project was funded by North Yorkshire County Council via the Basic Needs Fund.

SOLUTION

We prepared a feasibility study, reviewing different options available to the client, setting out various concept proposals with outline cost plans, strategies and specifications.

Following appraisal of feasibility options, we procured the project traditionally, managing a full design team, preparing all relevant design and technical information and co-ordinating a single stage tender process. Eddisons also managed the all core statutory processes including Planning, Building Regulations and Health and Safety (CDM).

We undertook the role of Contract Administrator, attending weekly progress meetings, inspecting progress against the programme, monitoring costs and ensuring a high standard of workmanship.

We worked closely with the client and key stakeholders, maintaining a hands on approach from start to finish.

RESULTS

The project was delivered from start to finish during the Covid-19 pandemic and predominantly during term time.

This created a number of additional challenges around working to ‘Covid secure’ protocols, with detailed logistical planning required for the school to remain fully operational at all times.

“Through technical excellence and a commercial mind-set, we deliver real value for our clients.”
