The team at Eddisons’ Huddersfield office has concluded a timely deal that will help to breathe new life into one of the town’s most famous locations.
6-10 Railway Street, which forms part of the town’s historic core, sitting as it does on the famed George Square, was sold for £550,000 following a short marketing campaign by the commercial property agent.
Purchased by Irish developer, SSA Limited, the long disused property will now undergo sympathetic refurbishment and redevelopment for subsequent mixed retail / residential use.
Paul Andrew, an Eddisons’ surveyor commented: “This property is one of Huddersfield’s landmark buildings and its disuse in recent years has been noteworthy.”
“But now, with a great deal of development for the town centre underway, planned or in the pipeline, SSA’s decision to commit to Huddersfield is another pointer towards a bright and vibrant future for the town centre.”
Also in Huddersfield town centre, and acting on behalf of mobility equipment retailer, Bright Futures Plc, Eddisons’ sublet 1,000 sq ft of office space on High Street to Jark Recruitment – a national agency that has offices in 10 locations. The 10 year lease is worth £25,000 per annum.
