Tasked with the job of finding a buyer for a piece of land formerly used as a car park, Eddisons’ Huddersfield office has once again excelled itself by selling the 1.15-acre site on the town’s Wakefield Rd for well in excess of £1million – a record for a piece of land in Huddersfield.
Deemed as surplus to its requirements, The University of Huddersfield instructed the leading commercial property agent, which also has offices in Bradford, Leeds and Manchester, to sell the land.
Jason Metcalfe, an associate director at Eddisons said, “as soon as we took the instruction we knew interest in the land would be exceptionally high as it sits in a prominent gateway position into the town, and is ideal for residential development.”
“As expected, demand was high, with a number of developers expressing interest and ensuring the competitive bidding process more than lived up to its name,” he added.
The successful offer was made by a north east based developer, which has since received planning permission to construct a residential apartment scheme on the site.
