The Huddersfield office of leading commercial property agent, Eddisons has proved to be a match winner for garment tailor, Brook Taverner, after selling the company’s former premises on the town’s St Andrew’s Road to representatives of Huddersfield Town for £2million.
Situated directly opposite the Galpharm Stadium, the property, which comprised a 50,000 sq ft industrial unit and 2-acres of land, was put on the market after Brook Taverner relocated to purpose built premises in Keighley.
Interest in the property, which was marketed with a guide price of £1.8million, was high with a number of investors and owner occupiers keen to purchase this well located freehold property.
“There is a real scarcity of freehold opportunities at present and as soon as one does become available the high level of interest shown in it demonstrates just how much the market currently favours the seller,” said Eddisons’ Jason Metcalfe. “What was noteworthy about this property was that even after the initial rush of enquiries the numbers expressing serious interest in buying was far higher than would normally be the case.”
Following a competitive bidding process the purchase was arranged by Ken Davey to allow the use of the property by Huddersfield Football Academy. The purchaser was represented in the transaction by Hanson Chartered Surveyors.
