A network of dams near Hebden Bridge, Halifax is among the lots on offer at the Eddisons Property Auction in Leeds on December 3.
They are up for sale at a guide price of £5,000 plus, which includes an extraction licence for up to 100,000 cubic metres of water per annum.
The four inter-connecting dams were built in the in the 19th century to power water wheels for the nearby Crimsworth Dyeworks, with the supply of water coming from Kitling Brook, a tributary of Hebden Water.
Tony Webber of Eddisons said: ‘These dams played a major part in the development of the region’s textile industry and were functioning as recently as September 2009.’
The bumper end of year catalogue contains 140 lots including a number on behalf of the LPA receivers, all of which have been priced to sell.
There are also a number of distressed sales on behalf of banks, finance companies, insolvency practitioners and mortgagees in possession.
Instructions have also been received from Local Authorities and public utilities, along with various lots offered at declared nil reserves.
Tony Webber said: ‘The last auction of the year is always busy. Vendors are anxious not to be left with unwanted stock, which means buyers should find plenty of bargains. It’s a bit like the January sales, just earlier.’
Enquiries have already been received on a number of lots including a parcel of land at High Hawsker, near Whitby, being offered on the instruction of Yorkshire Water.
The land is the former Whitby Hawkser Service Reservoir and is let on a horse grazing agreement until November 2010 at an annual rent of £110 and carries a guide price of £5,000 plus.
Residential lots anticipated to attract interest include four properties offered on the instructions of British Waterways.
All the properties are vacant and enjoy canalside locations in Shipley, Huddersfield, Brighouse and Ferrybridge, with guide prices starting at £40,000 plus.
Meanwhile, in Holmfirth near Huddersfield four under dwellings and four over dwellings are offered on the instructions of the LPA receivers at a guide price of £350,000 plus.
Seven of the properties are currently let on a combination of assured shorthold tenancies and statutory protected tenancies and have the potential to generate gross annualised rental income of £33,396 when fully let, giving a return of approximately 9.5%.
The two day sale is taking place at Leeds United Football Club, Elland Road, Leeds on December 3 commencing at 12 noon and at The Fairways Lodge and Leisure Club, Prestwich, Manchester on December 8 at 1.00pm.
