 During October, the Valuation Office will be issuing draft rating valuations which will come into effect in April 2010. These proposed valuations will be in force for the next five years and will form the basis for the level of business rates each business in the UK has to pay.

Over the coming months, more information will become available from the Government and it is an ideal time for businesses to consider appealing the valuation with a view to reducing the rating liability for the next five years.
